I am not your Gameboy

This is a big huge long pile of venting.

This is venting coming out after I spent most of today being very perplexed, frustrated, and annoyed by a comment on one of my MacAdmins talks that I, at first, assumed was a whine-fest from a disgruntled NiceGuy™ but was actually from another woman in tech who was at the conference.

Be warned. It's a giant wall of text after the jump.

Fiddly little edits

I figure if I'm actually going to start using this blog and Blogger again I should fiddle with things and get them how I like them.

>_> Now, do I waste the time and effort tweaking the CSS for my page so I can force the text to be justified, or do I cope with ragged right?

Nerd problems.

Next thing you know I'll be trying to figure out how to kern the title, or modify the tracking of the fonts.

Unimagined Futures: The childhood dream I should have had

When December rolls around this year I'll have spent 20 years living and breathing Macs. Looking back in hindsight it makes absolute perfect sense that I ended up a Mac SysAdmin -- I've spent more time with Macs than I have with anything other than myself.

Existential crisis: Follow-up and behind the scenes

(Note: this post was started while I was on my way home from MacAdmins, and finished up after a week of vacation. Tone/etc mileage may vary.)

So I'm currently sitting in the Penn Stater conference hotel in State College, PA.

The panic, terror, and trepidation I've felt for the last seven months just lifted off my shoulders, and I'm sitting in the lobby feeling hollow and drained.

I just spent the last five days surrounded by other Mac sysadmins, techs, support staff — and the glitterati amongst our diverse and motley crew.

I spent two hours standing up in front of my peers and colleagues speaking, delivering two talks which, as far as I know, were well received.

VSphere Mac Minis: a Case Study

Because all the other cool kids from MacAdmins are doing it, and I don't dare be left out!
